The Process

We've all heard it before... It's all about the journey. Whether you are traveling or learning how to pick up the opposite sex, the best part, is supposed to be the journey right? Why is it so hard to live in the now? Do you really need that $15,000 mic to do those vocal tracks? Nah...

While on a gig, geeking out with a fellow producer/engineer, started talking about process and the journey in music. He mentioned a time when he was only a couple years into producing, had some shit gear, no clients and heavy set doom and gloom. His mentor gave him a simple solution, learn to enjoy the process, enjoy the journey and take the ride! Learn to enjoy the tedeous moments and love the fact you will always be learning and perfecting your craft.

The grind it takes to do anything seriously is daunting and there is no real way to tell when your next peak or valley will come. The older I get and the more experience I gain, the less I care about the shitty gear I have or the fans I don't have. It seems more exciting for me to use my limitations and shortcomings to my advantage. The journey in music, in my opinion, should be life long so why not enjoy the ride!
